Project title: ‘Sanjeevani’ – Earn and learn initiative for under privileged children.

Project overview:

Project ‘Sanjeevani’ aims at empowering under privileged children. We intend to provide a platform for kids attending schools run by Municipal Corporation in Pune where in they can explore their creativity in manufacturing handmade goods and earn with dignity.

Background Information and Statement of Problem:

About 250 million children aged between 5 and 14 work at various places, about half of all child laborers work full-time. Many kids work in hard and often dangerous jobs. They do not go to school. The issue of child labor looms large over India. The conditions in slums are becoming more critical day by day. People residing in slums encourage child labor in various forms such as polishing shoes, picking rags, selling water pouches etc thus ignoring primary education. One solution to this problem is to empower these kids with education and availing them facilities to earn while they learn and teaching them various skill sets which can help them live life with dignity and self esteem.

Project detail:

1. Goals and objectives:

‘Sanjeevani’ aims at reaching all the schools run by Municipal Corporation, Pune. We intend to conduct various workshops for under privileged students in these schools such as Pottery, Painting, Arts and crafts etc. and manufacturing variety of handmade products those can be sold to local vendors. The profit amount earned by selling these goods will be distributed among the kids. The only condition applied on participant is that the participant must attend school formally.

2. Clientele:

-Local stationary vendors and distributors.

-Local gift article vendors and distributors

3. Methods:

We intend to conduct workshops for manufacturing various handmade goods under the guidance of skilled trainers and volunteers.

Proposed list of products to be manufactured as follows:

1. Paper bags

2. Gift bags
3.Gift boxes

4. Envelops
5. Handmade greeting cards
6.Wall hangings and show pieces
7.Soft toys
8.Pottery and creative art on the same using ceramic and various paintings.
9. Types of Candles
10. Artificial Jewelry

4. Staff administration:

We will have various skill set trainers and number of volunteers involved in manufacturing process along with a marketing team which will take care of marketing the manufactured goods. Accounting team will handle the accounts of whole project.
